It’s sweltering all over the United States, which means it’s summer, (or to the hoards of climate alarmists, armageddon.) Either way, I’ve been holed up in our house, culling our colossal book collection, and reevaluating if I actually need the over 15K books we own (I do.)

We are having much of the inside of our house renovated, which means we are finally getting new bookshelves. By “new” I mean we are taking the decade-old Billy bookcases and retrofitting them. Add some crown-moulding and putty and VOILA! It’s like I paid $25,000 for built-ins. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. At any rate, it’s been enjoyable to go through our home library and think of all times I purchased different books. Each one tells a story and after about thirty years of collecting, I can confidently say that I’m very proud of our collection. If armageddon does happen, our family will, at the very least, be well-read as we wait on the impending firestorm.

Enough about my book obsession…let’s check in on literature news from the past week….
